Not an Isolated Incident: My First Tumblr Rant

I kind of wish I had attended the Not an Isolated Incident march today.  At the same time, I heard a lot of interesting things watching the group from the balcony of the Ferg in response to what exactly was going on…

“Somebody chalked some shit and they’re bitching about it”

“They just want to feel important”

“That girl with the sexual harassment poster?  Guaranteed lesbian”

“What’s thi— Oh it’s a black protest”

Listening to the almost ironic ignorance of the students around me helped me to really understand what kinds of walls Not an Isolated Incident are running into here.  While many of the non-participating students seemed to think the whole thing was a failed attempt to feel as though we are making change, I disagree.  I personally felt inspired by the students that marched outside in the coldest day we have seen in a long time to support equality and tolerance of ALL students.  I know I can’t be the only one.  I heard one girl on the balcony say:

“I think what they’re doing is great”

Maybe her hang-ups in participating are the same as mine…  I am white, middle-class, straight, and I can’t think of a time that I have been very offended over gender issues.  Not much to complain about there.  But now I see that participation is crucial because, without the numbers and support, the march can’t reach its potential power.  If the only way I can belatedly show my support for this cause is by blogging, then I am gonna blog the hell out of this.

Thus concludes my first Tumblr rant.

I almost have as many followers as people I am following

which I thought would never happen.

I think it’s because of my of Montreal pictures, seeing as I had more activity on that picture of Kevin Barnes than ANY of my posts previously.

That’s cool, not like I spend hours drawing or anything.

Just kidding.

But really?

And here’s another picture from the show that I think turned out well.  So good so good so good.
ohhhh Buzzcocks.
My roommate has a scanner, I’ll start using that soon.
Also this idea looked a lot cooler in my head.  And I have no idea where the bird thing came from.
